The VCOS board of directors is counting on you to take a short survey before we spend a day on Capitol Hill. To enhance our conversations with key Congressional representatives, we’re hoping for specific, quantifiable information on the types of incentives offered by local departments. You’ll be providing us the information we need to educate members of Congress on how incentive programs are used to recruit and retain volunteer members who are so vital for the safety of the public.

The economic climate of 2008 shifted the focus for many fire service leaders from growth to survival. In an attempt to assist our members with decision-making needs, the Volunteer and Combination Officers Section (VCOS) of the IAFC conducted a survey in mid-2009. Chief Shane Ray shared the results of the survey – for the first time - with attendees at the 2009 VCOS Symposium in the Sun.
Review the survey results here.
The recipients of the Volunteer & Combination Officers Section awards and scholarships were announced at the 2009 Symposium in the Sun.
